Design Bar: Systems and Service Design
Systems-oriented design is gaining increased traction in the Nordics, and on November 11, Andreas Wettre (Senior LEcturer at AHO) and Jonathan Romm (Professor at AHO) were invited by Olle Lundin (Process Lead at ArkDes) to present SOD at the ArkDes Design Bar event in Stockholm, Sweden. ArkDes is the Swedish Centre for Architecture and Design. This event, organised in collaboration with the Service Design Network Sweden, focused on a pressing question:
How can service design be used to address complex societal challenges?

The event featured a lively panel discussion with researchers and practitioners from the public sector in Sweden and our own Jonathan Romm. Together, they explored how service design can drive change at a systems level—ranging from practical solutions in everyday life to transformative policy developments.
Following the panel, Jonathan and Andreas from AHO led an interactive workshop with smaller groups. Participants delved into gigamapping design practices that promote broader systems understandings and catalyse change.
