What does Losæter need to thrive?
And what would it take for more places like it?
We are inviting a small group of people closely connected to Losæter for a half-day workshop on Monday 1 June 2026. Together we will co-determine the focus areas and direction of a four-year research project, eat food together, and spend time in the ground. This is the opening of a collaboration, not a consultation.

Losæter community farm, Bjørvika.
About the workshop
The Culture Based Solutions project works across four Norwegian case sites, each representing a distinct practice and a distinct landscape under pressure. At Losæter, the work focuses on two connected questions that we think belong together.
THE TWO QUESTIONS
What does Losæter need to continue to thrive?
What would it take for there to be more places like it?
Purpose and desired outcomes
This workshop is the most important moment for setting the initial focus of the project at Losæter. We are coming in with an initial framing, but the direction will be co-determined here and refined through dialogue with the community throughout the process.
How this shapes the project
What emerges from this first KulturverkSted will directly shape two growing seasons of research and activity at Losæter, in 2026 and 2027. The findings feed into two connected ambitions: understanding what Losæter needs to thrive, and building evidence for what it would take for similar initiatives to emerge elsewhere in the city.
In autumn 2026, AHO master’s students join the project as co-researchers, producing system maps and intervention sketches grounded in the Losæter case. Across all four case sites, the project is building towards an Intervention Guide aimed at decision-makers, and an Atlas publication drawing on mapping and visual material from all the KulturverkSteds.
You can read more about the project, the initial framing, and the ambitions of the Losæter work package at the SOD project page.

What roles do art, funding, municipal structures, and the balance between organisation and openness play in both questions? |
